As the spring semester and the academic year comes to an end, I want to thank each of you for the continued “Commitment to Excellence.” For the year 2012-13, the students, staff and the community of Etiwanda High School demonstrated numerous moments of success. For the class of 2013, congratulations to those who qualified in meeting the University of California “a-g” academic requirements. For your information, the class of 2012 had 44.8% of its students meet this requirement. If this is any indication, we expect to see continued growth for the class of 2013 and beyond.

As for our Etiwanda staff, their continued academic student-centered curriculum is evident in the number of students taking Advanced Placements courses as well student achievement in the classroom. Additionally, 2013-14 will introduce the Common Core Curriculum to both teachers and students. This is an exciting time in education in that academic achievement will be connected with online academic assessments.

Lastly, thank you to the community at large; your support of Measure P will bring improvements to Etiwanda High School. This will be in the form of a school stadium, theater, and additional classrooms. This will take time, though eventually you will see a school facility that matches the academic and co-curricular excellence of Etiwanda High School.

Finally, Graduation is fast approaching, the date is Tuesday May 21, and will take place at Los Osos High School.
