Final Exam Schedule
We are now fast approaching the end of the second progress report grading period, thus giving more opportunities for our students to demonstrate their academic progress. I encourage your student to take advantage of our Saturday school program “Talon.” Your student’s teacher will make announcements in class as to when a “Talon” will take place.
In addition, students and teachers have been working diligently throughout the year to prepare for the transition to the new curriculum standards. Our staff has been collaborating and learning about the Common Core Standards in math and English Language Arts. These new standards emphasize college and career readiness and prepare and measure higher order thinking skills. In April, our 11th grade students will be assessed by taking the Smarter Balance Assessment. This assessment will provide valuable feedback to our students and staff regarding rigor and preparation.
Additionally, AP Exams (Advanced Placement) will be administered May 5-16. The testing schedule may be found online at CollegeBoard.com. Advanced Placement courses and the end-of-year exam provide an opportunity for students to take rigorous course work while they are in high school.
Etiwanda High School is a fine high school and we are proud of our hard working, students, teachers, and staff. Thus, I invite you to come out to the numerous fine arts, athletic and awards events which will acknowledge our talented and most gifted Etiwanda students. Please check the web-site calendar for the upcoming events or feel free to contact the activities office for more details.
Lastly, I look forward to seeing you at our school events or at our Class of 2014 Graduation. For your information, graduation will take place on Wednesday May 21st at Los Osos HS and will begin at 6:00pm. Eagle Pride!
