Welcome to AP Computer Science

Now prepare to work...

Hi all! This work isn't terribly intense, but it will give you some exposure to what we'll be doing next year.

  1. Read chapter 1 from the Java Methods textbook. It's only 28 pages long, but packed with technical information.
  2. Follow the links and read the simple tutorials on Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). We'll cover it in greater detail in class, but I'd like you to have some exposure before we start in August.
  3. Follow the links and read the simple explanations of binary and hexadecimal number systems. We will also cover this in greater detail during the course.
  4. Follow the BlueJ IDE link to download and install the BlueJ IDE. Watch the video provided at the BlueJ Installation link for guidance.
  5. Follow the link called BlueJ Introductory Program. Watch the video and do as the narrator instructs. This will only take a couple of minutes, but will give you a little taste of what we'll be doing during the year.

You might want to consider purchasing the Barron's AP Computer Science test prep book. It has great samples of multiple choice and free response questions. This is not mandatory. The book can be found at https://www.amazon.com/Barrons-AP-Computer-Science-7th/dp/1438005946/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495130421&sr=8-1&keywords=barron%27s+ap+computer+science+a+7th+edition

LoopMail me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting you all in August. Have a wonderful summer!
