    Principal's Message

    Eagles,

The 2018/19 school year has been exciting for students academically.  As we are closely approaching spring break, this is the sign that students will begin taking annual assessments, enjoying prom, and eventually celebrating graduation. Please take the time to read the information below as we prepare for the end of the academic school year.

     Testing:

•In April, our 11th grade students will be taking SBAC (Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium) in English and math. This exam is web-based and includes the EAP (Early Assessment Placement, which is accepted at Cal State schools and community colleges. This exam measures college-readiness for students who wish to attend a post-secondary institution upon graduation.

•In April, our 12th grade students will be taking the life science exam during their government/economics class. This is the first year where baseline data will be gathered for future use.

•Lastly, our students who are enrolled in AP (Advanced Placement) classes are busily preparing for exams that begin early May. Please encourage your students to take these exams as they may provide relief from taking additional courses in college.

These assessments are important. The results provide our teachers and staff information as to what we can do to improve instructionally. If you would like additional information, please feel free to contact the school.

    Student Achievement:

•We have resources on campus such as School Loop, tutoring/library center, and teacher tutoring available for student success. Teacher tutoring: this resource is available to all students. Please contact your student’s teacher or counselor for an updated schedule.

•School Loop: consistent monitoring by students and families can help students stay up to date on academic work. If you are having trouble accessing information,  please do not hesitate in communicating with the Assistant Principal of Achievement’s office.

•The Tutoring Center is located upstairs in the library. The hours are weekly Monday – Thursday from 3 pm-4 pm.

Lastly, our counselors and students have begun the registration process for the 2019-2020 school year. We are offering new courses such as Computer Programming and Gaming, AP Computer Science, Honors Anatomy, and Robotics. If you have questions, please contact any administrator or counselor.

Academic success is paramount. As a reminder, it is important that all students are to class on time and attend school daily. Please continue to encourage your student complete their homework and ask for help when needed. If we can help in any way, please feel free to contact the school.

Mathew Holton, Superintendent, and California Baptist University Provost, Dr. Charles Sands, recently signed our newest admission agreement! All CJUHSD graduates who meet the mutually agreed upon admission requirements, will be able to enroll and attend this progressive university. One of the amazing highlights of this agreement is the commitment of CBU to provide a minimum of $8,000 per academic year in combined scholarships and grants to all our students! We are very excited to provide this opportunity for our students to attend this university in Riverside, California. This agreement, along with the previous agreements with Cal State San Bernardino, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Bakersfield, University of Redlands, University of La Verne, Azusa Pacific University, and Grand Canyon University continue to provide an advantage to the students of the Chaffey Joint Union High School District to pursue their dreams for the future!
